Encourage learners of all ages to visit properties. The REO is often the first call for schools wishing to visit Trust properties in that region and so they liaise between schools and properties to ensure that both parties are aware of each other's needs and have an enjoyable experience. They actively promote The National Trust for Scotland to teachers, education authorities and students of all ages as well as promoting the Trust's education activities to other agencies. This takes place in schools, Trust properties, at events and at numerous other venues. Actively encourage a 'fun' approach at properties. Individual events are enormously popular with the local community. The presence of high numbers of children at larger events bring the properties to life. By developing relationships with local schools and children the REO helps local communities to develop a deeper feeling of ownership of their local NTS property. Organise major educational events. REOs organise specific events for schools, ranging from large multi-school events to small workshops for small groups. Both adults and children are catered for. Work with all areas of the community. There is a tendency to assume that education refers only to primary age pupils but an REOs programme involves learners of all ages. Students are frequently offered placements and may work as education guides or with the Ranger Service.
