Volunteers provide enormous help to the Trust and there are many openings for volunteers at properties to undertake a variety of tasks. Working in a voluntary capacity can suit many people who wish to extend their interests, meet new people or develop their levels of experience for their future careers. If you would like to find out more about working as a volunteer for the National Trust for Scotland, please contact our Head of Volunteers, 0131 2439475 or email to vdaltan@nts.org.uk.

Working on the campIn the countryside, groups of Conservation Volunteers carry out practical conservation projects at properties, usually lasting either one-day or over a weekend. Membership of these groups is free of charge and is open to everyone aged over 16. By joining the Conservation Volunteers, you can learn a variety of practical skills, make new friends, work alongside the Trust Rangers and other staff and enhance your understanding of countryside skills and conservation issues.

Week long voluntary work camps are known as Thistle Camps. They tackle a variety of conservation projects such as footpath maintenance, dyking etc. For more information about Conservation Volunteers, please contact the Countryside Department.
