Drama & Schools - Scotland & the Slave Trade

This on-line resource introduces teachers (and club leaders) to the use of drama, based around the slave trade. It shows how drama can be used effectively with young people to learn about the topic and to explore sensitive issues arising from our history.

It has been prepared to demonstrate how drama contributes to the principles of the Curriculum for Excellence. It also offers specific support for learning outcomes and experiences in Expressive Arts, Drama.

The resource is based on a drama project that took place in Glasgow and South Lanarkshire, involving pupils from two primary schools and a youth group (see Case Study).

The drama workshops described are suitable for young people aged 10 years upwards.
