Time lines and stratigraphy

The concept of time (and historical ages) can be difficult for pupils to understand. In this section, you can download a timeline for classroom use, and also a diagram illustrating stratified layers of earth (stratigraphy). The two are linked in order to show pupils how, when archaeologists scrape back the earth during an excavation, they 'go back in time'.
